The summertime heat has me hot! No, really. I mean, “Hot!”
…Not just the feeling that I’m flushed, but edgy, touchy, more than a little anxious.
Actually, this is a common feeling during the hot, summer months. Traffic, responsibilities, schedules-to-keep, work, family-life, not to mention, the weather. The weather…It is so unpredictable. The only thing you can count on is — it’s hot!
With all this going on…watching the news… watching my wallet… watching the bank account…the bills…the children…the elderly parents…there’s a lot of stress going on, too. Stress and worry can cause tension headaches, sleepless nights, even missed meals, or too many snacks-of-the-tummy-ache-kind!

I need to make decisions independent of what others think. Right?
What difference does it make what “they” think? What difference does it make what “they” say about me?
So, I’ll decide for myself. Now…question is: How do I decide?
How will my decision make me feel?

But…I just can’t live alone. So, I guess it does matter.
There is so much hate, and sorrow, and natural disasters that wipe out entire towns…babies dying, hungry children, distraught mothers, persecuted fathers, neglected animals…the list of horrible things in our world is long and ugly.
But when you think about it, all of these horrible things have an “origin” somewhere in the human experience…It’s called cause & effect.
The thoughts in my mind began in my heart. My heart is broken. Am I angry? Just sad, not angry? No, I Am angry. But my heart can somehow, still hold compassion, understanding, a feeling for you…a feeling that I still care what happens to you. That’s the difference.
Feeling lonely? Although in a crowd, still no one sees you? Or so it seems.
It’s a hurting, empty feeling. I know.
Finding love that’s real and true doesn’t have to be difficult or even a challenge.
I remember driving my car across the Mississippi River bridge, on my way to work, thinking about my co-workers, seemingly so happy & content with their lives. They go home every day to a family, maybe children, or a loving spouse, a comfortable home.
And here I am, living alone, in a cramped apartment that I don’t like, in a neighborhood I don’t like, with a cheating boyfriend to talk to in the evening, after a long day at work with “happy people.” The ache in my stomach seems to only get better when I eat.
Years later, I look back on those days, and wonder how I made it to this point. Now, I no longer commute. I’ve found a place to live that’s comfortable, in a neighborhood I like! I have a loyal friend who lives with me and shares everything with me! How did I get here? Simple. One, hyphenated word…
It all started when I became sick & tired of being “sick & tired.” That’s the day everything changed for me.
Finding true & lasting love is easy, once you decide to choose it. It’s just that simple. Never let someone else define your life, or control your happiness & peace of mind.
